Team Eligibility

To be eligible to register for the Thousand Oaks swim team, swimmers must:

  • be 5-18 years of age as of June 1st.
  • demonstrate the ability to enter the water unaided
  • demonstrate the ability to safely swim one length of the 25 meter pool (any stroke) without resting on the bottom of the pool or on the lane ropes

Coaches will evaluate swimmers throughout the first week of practice to determine placement. If, during that time, the coaches determine that your swimmer is not quite ready to participate this year, coaches will contact the parents of the swimmer.

Families must:

  • Be willing to fulfill a volunteer commitment of 12 hours per family.  Our family volunteers are a critical part of our team's success and as such your participation is essential.

Fees & Registration

No change to our Team Registration Fees for the 2024 season: 

(Note USA swimming did increase their Fees for 2024 from $40 to $50 per summer swimmer)

  • $147 per swimmer for residents and $157 for non-residents
  • $35 per family registration fee (Charge once when registering 1st swimmer)
  • $50 USA Swimming registration fee (for non-year-round swimmers) - Paid Directly to USA swimming by parents. 
    • (Proof of good standing will be required prior to first day of practice)

Discounts offered:

  • $10 multi-swimmer discount for each additional swimmer after your first one
  • $35 credit to offset your family registration fee if you introduce a committed Corporate Sponsor or commit to being a Sponsor to the team at a $250 donation level or above.  During the registration process, you will be asked if you or someone you know works for a business that would benefit from advertising in our heat sheets or on our T-shirts. Our VP of Fundraising will follow up with you.

Pups Developmental Swim Program

  • $87 per Resident PUPs Swimmer and $97 per Non Resident PUPs swimmer
  • $35 per family registration fee (Charge once when registering 1st swimmer)
  • Plus a required $50 USA Swimming registration fee, which will be paid directly to USA Swimming by parents)
    • (Proof of good standing will be required prior to first day of practice)

If you are new to the team, at the conclusion of the registration process, after your registration is approved by our team, you will be granted access to your private online account for the team.

As a registered member of the Thousand Oaks Otters, signing into your private account will enable you to easily declare for swim meets, sign-up for jobs, see your children's swim time histories, maintain your own contact information, and much more.

Existing Family Registration begins on 3/1 and must be completed by 3/21 to ensure a spot on the team. Registration will be opened to new members who are residents on 3/22 and 3/29 for new non-resident members. Registration closes on 5/10 or when the team is full which ever comes first. Any swimmers registering after 5/10 will be charged a $20 per swimmer late registration fee.


Team Shirts, Spirit Wear and Team Swimsuits

Each swimmer on the team will receive a team t-shirt. For returning swimmers, please make sure you check your account information and ensure the size we have in the system for your swimmer is correct. You will have the opportunity to order team swimsuits and spirit wear in the spring.
