2023 Registration Form

Welcome to the 2023 Electronic Registration platform for the 6 time and reigning Northland Conference Champions, the Thousand Oaks Otters. We are excited about the upcoming swim season and are happy to announce the continuation of the Pups Developmental Swim Program described below.

Please note that your child "MUST" be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted and be 6 years old by 7/31/2023 (or have completed Kindergarten) to participate on the Thousand Oaks Swim Club. This will be strictly enforced. If you are unsure as to whether your child is ready for the Otters swim program we recommend you have your child evaluated at one of our local "Y" or Community pools before registering.

For the Pups program, your child needs to be able to swim the WIDTH of the Otters pool, or approximately 11 meters and be 5-6 years old, based upon their age as of July 31, 2023.

There have been some changes to the way you will pay your USA Swimming fees, so please read this very carefully.

For now you will only be paying the Otters Swim Team Registration Fee.

The $40 per swimmer fee that we used to collect for USA Swimming will now have to be paid directly to USA Swim by each family after April 10th.

Due to the removal of the USA Swimming Registration fee and other changes as a result of increases in Northland Conference fees and team expenses. Our Otters Swim Team registration fees will change for the 2023 season to $147 per swimmer for residents and $157 for non-residents. Consistent with the past, you can receive a $10 multi-swimmer discount for each additional swimmer you register after your first one.

Registration Groups

You will be asked to choose a registration group for your child during registration.

If your child only swims during the summer swimmer season, please choose Summer Swimmer. You will need to register your swimmer(s) and pay an additional $40 per swimmer USA Swimming Registration fee, through USA swimming (A Link will be provided prior to April 10th with additional instructions once USA swimming opens registration for Summer Swim Clubs). Your child cannot participate on the 2023 Thousand Oaks Otters Team without first completing this additional step with USA swimming.

If your child swims on a year-round swim team (NLU, Club North, Blue Wave, Tsunami, etc.), please choose Year-Round Swimmer. No further additional action is required with USA swimming as your swimmers USA Swimming Registration fee has already been paid as a requirement with their year-round team. PLEASE ONLY SELECT "Year-Round Swimmer" IF YOUR CHILD WAS ACTIVE WITH A YEAR-ROUND TEAM DURING THE FALL/WINTER I 2022 OR WINTER II / SPRING 2023 SEASONS.

We are excited to announce that we will once again be offering the Pups Developmental Swim Program as part of the Thousand Oaks Swim Club for the Summer 2023 Season. This program is for 5-6 year olds ONLY, based upon their age as of July 31, 2023, who are not quite ready to join the Otters but would benefit from practice time with our coaches to work on the fundamentals of both freestyle and backstroke. The child needs to be able to swim the WIDTH of the Otters pool, or approximately 11 meters in order to begin this program. Just so there is no confusion, this program is not a "swim lesson" for those who do not yet know how to swim but rather is for those children who need to work on their technique in order to get a jump start on full participation on the Otters for the 2024 Summer Season.

We are limiting this program to 20 swimmers and preference will first be given to returning families. Any remaining slots open when new member registration opens on March 22nd, 2023 will be on a first come, first serve basis.

This program will be at a reduced rate of $87 per swimmer plus a required $40 USA Registration fee that you will pay directly to USA swimming, A Link will be provided prior to April 10th once USA swimming opens registration for Summer Swim Clubs. We anticipate the program will begin on June 12th and run for 4 weeks, meeting on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays. Participants in this program, will NOT initially participate in swim meets, however if during the season you decide that you would like your Pup to participate in one of the meets and the head coach agrees that the Pup is ready, they will be allowed to participate in a meet. This program was great success last season and we look forward to many of last years Pups graduating to full participation with the Otters this season.

Family Registration Fee

Similar to last year, there is a $35 per family registration fee.

Corporate Sponsor Discount

During the registration process, you will be asked if you or someone you know works for a business that would benefit from advertising in our heat sheets or on our T-shirts. If you are committed to being a Corporate Sponsor or have a firm commitment from a business that you are going to introduce to the Otters as a Corporate Sponsor at a $250 donation level or above, please answer the question "Yes" and you will qualify for a $30 credit toward your registration fee. By selecting this option, your contact information will be provided to the Vice President of Fund Raising, and they will contact you with details. If you have previously been notified that you were exempt from fundraising because of your life to date fundraising level, please also answer this question "Yes".

Late Registrations will be accepted after May 10th on a space available basis with a $20 per swimmer late registration fee. If you are a Thousand Oaks Resident that moved into Thousand Oaks after August 1, 2022, this fee can be waived by contacting [email protected] before registering online.

Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy Acknowledgement

USA Swimming’s top priority continues to be keeping our athletes safe. No form of abuse, including child sexual abuse, has a place in our sport. As a part of our continued commitment to safeguarding our athletes, USA Swimming has enacted enhancements to our Safe Sport policy and education requirements.

The U.S. Center for SafeSport (“the Center”), the separate, independent, organization that oversees all sexual misconduct reports in the Olympic and Paralympic Movement created the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies to set a baseline for acceptable safety standards that limit one-on-one interactions between adults and minor athletes.

The Center urged all National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to add restrictions tailored to fit the sport. On April 29, 2019, USA Swimming released its Minor Athlete Protection Policy (MAAPP) addressing one-on-one interactions, social media and electronic communications, travel: local and team, locker rooms and changing areas and massages, rubdowns and athletic training modalities. This Policy can be reviewed using the enclosed link:

Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy

I acknowledge that I have, received, read and understood the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy and /or that the Policy has been explained to me or my family. I further acknowledge and understood that agreeing to comply with the contents of this Policy is a condition of my membership with Thousand Oaks Swim Club.

Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, prohibited the congregation of groups of people.

The Northland Swim Conference (“Conference”) and its members which include the Brooktree Swim Club, Clayview Country Club, Coves Swim Team, Hill of Walden Swim Team, Kearney Swim Team, New Mark Swim Team, Old Pike Country Club, Riss Lake Swim Team, Thousand Oaks Swim Club, Walnut Creek Swim Team, and Woodneath Farms Swim Team (“Member Clubs”) have attempted to put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, the Conference and its Member Clubs cannot guarantee that you or your child(ren) will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, attending or participating in the activities of the Conference and Member Clubs could increase your risk and/or your child(ren)’s risk of contracting COVID-19.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By signing this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending or participating in Conference and Member Club activities and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 may result from the actions, omissions, and negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, the Conference or Member Club representatives, employees, agents, volunteers, sponsoring organizations, home owners associations, and program participants and their families.

I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to myself and my children, if applicable, (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I or my children, if applicable, may experience or incur in connection with me or my children’s attendance or participation at Conference or Member Club events and activities. On my behalf, and on behalf of my children, if applicable, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless the Conference and Member Clubs, their representatives, employees, agents, volunteers, sponsoring organizations, and home owners associations, of and from all claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind, arising out of their negligence conduct (“Claims”). I understand and agree that this release includes Claims based on the actions, omissions, and negligence of the Conference and Member Clubs, their representatives, employees, agents, volunteers, sponsoring organizations, and home owners associations, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any Conference or Member Club event or activity.
